Greenport BID Social Media Posting Guidelines:

Focus on Village-Wide Events:

All social media posts from the Greenport BID will highlight events, activities, and initiatives that promote the village as a whole. Posts will aim to enhance community engagement, tourism, and the overall economic vitality of Greenport.

Individual Business Promotions:

The BID will not post content specifically promoting individual businesses. Instead, content should focus on events or initiatives that involve multiple businesses or contribute to the broader community experience.  Individual businesses may be featured for significant reasons (e.g. new business opening, Dan’s Paper award winners, significant events like 10th Anniversary, etc.)

Social Media Calendar for Business Participation:

To allow fair representation of local businesses, the BID will implement a social media calendar. Each business may submit up to 3 tag requests per month, promoting events or specials that align with community-driven objectives (e.g., participation in village-wide festivals, holiday specials).

   – Businesses can submit their tags in advance.

   – Requests will be reviewed to ensure alignment with BID’s goals and community standards.

   – The BID reserves the right to adjust or decline posts that do not align with its mission or focus.

Tagging and Hashtags:

Approved business events will be tagged in BID posts, with relevant hashtags used to ensure wider visibility. However, these posts will emphasize the event’s connection to the larger Greenport community rather than direct business promotion.

Content Approval Process:

The BID will review all submissions for calendar placement. Priority will be given to posts that reflect village-wide impact or enhance the community experience.

By adhering to these guidelines, the Greenport BID aims to maintain a balanced and fair social media presence that supports village growth without favoring individual businesses.
