GATE Committee
Government Activities, Transportation & Enforcement
Liaison with Village and Town Municipal Government and monitor related activities. Issues include parking regulations, transportation initiatives, links to the LIRR, mobility improvements, planning, zoning, review of new developments, safety and security of sidewalks, outdoor dining encroachments and code enforcement issues.
SOBO Committee
Sidewalk Operations, Beautification & Order
Oversees maintenance and service provider contracts involved in the beautification or improvement of the public rights of way including sidewalk sweeping, streetscape issues, landscaping design, tree selection, streetlight standards, holiday decorations, and related expenses. Coordinates with existing private security companies hired by private property owners within the district and manages relations with Town Police when necessary.
DIME Committee
District Identity, Marketing & Events
Projects would include those that market and promote the positive aspects of Greenport’s business district. Issues may include: branding of the district, public relations, newsletter content, walking maps, brochures, banner programs, sponsorship drives and localized events that celebrate the district and Village of Greenport. Focus and develop potential new public space projects, improving existing public spaces and coordinates special events.
SMILE Committee
Social Media, Information Logistics & Engagement
Oversee the website development and maintenance, social media content and posting, manages surveys, data collection and dissemination of information, updates and electronic communications. Coordinates with all other committees to broadcast messages, updates, initiatives and community appeals where relevant.
